This is the second year that the team at Landhaus Freemann has created a winter wonderland in their Biergarten. This year, they’ve outdone themselves by creating one of the most magical Christmas oases in Düsseldorf. I recently visited them to experience their Open-Air Winter Market where local artists come together to sell their one-of-a-kind pieces, and then I ended the evening with a magical Raclette dinner with my family in one of their holiday huts. What makes their holiday huts so special?

You get the restaurant experience, the VIP service, and yet the cozy atmosphere like you’d get at home celebrating over the holidays (not to mention the opportunity to avoid clean-up duties).

Welcome to Landhaus Freemann | Home of the Magical Holiday Huts

This year, their holiday huts are available for reserved private dinner parties with a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 14 people. They offer an incredible holiday menu which includes 5 different menu choices including Gänseessen (if you don’t know what that is, read this blog post), Raclette, smoked salmon, schnitzel, and meat fondue.

Before you enter your personal holiday hut, you’ll walk through their backyard terrace under hundreds of glowing lights and surrounded by trees. It’s pretty much a guarantee that you’ll be getting that perfect “warm holiday feeling” we’ve all been yearning for this month.

After a lovely evening filled with delicious modern German food and drink from their incredible menu, you can sit back and relax by the fire while sipping on a warm cider and admiring their beautiful historic building alongside new architectural additions.

My family and I went for the Raclette dinner. It was a huge hit! Not just for the adults, but for my little one as well. He repeated the phrase “Mommy, we get to eat in our own little Christmas house?!” about 15 times before digging into his delicious ooey-gooey cheesy plate.

I highly recommend trying this experience out at least once this season (though you do need to be quick on making a reservation as they do book up fast).

Landhaus Freemann offers modern German cuisine in an old historical building and is located right across the street from Schloss Kalkum in Kalkum. In addition to their winter wonderland, they also host seasonal open-air markets, weddings, company events, and are family & dog friendly!
