I know I’m certainly not the only one desperately looking for child-friendly cafés in Düsseldorf (and where the waiters won’t groan about me dragging the stroller behind me and up the stairs). The struggle is real!

So, thanks to my little one, I’ve spent the last couple of months on a hunt for the best cafés in the city that are baby-friendly and child-friendly, some of which also offer a play area for babies and young kids… rather than searching for a babysitter haha. Of course, there are always new cafés popping up every year, so if you think one is missing, don’t be afraid to let us know!

Here are 15+ of the best child-friendly cafés in Düsseldorf

BabyBee-Spielraum

BabyBee-Spielraum is a brand new kindercafé and indoor playground for children ages 0-5 located in Pempelfort. They promote their use of eco-friendly toys and offer a variety of bilingual courses. You have the option to bring your own food or purchase food and drink from their own café.

HAPPY KIDS

HAPPY KIDS is an awesome place for children of all ages and for mama and papa who prefer sitting at a table while enjoying their coffee. It’s a great mix between a classic café and a kid’s paradise. The room is filled with comfortable places to sit, toys to play with, and a huge jungle gym for the kids. They also offer courses and host birthdays here too!

New Address: Achenbachstraße 148, 40237 Düsseldorf

Chiquito Düsseldorf

Chiquito is Benrath’s popular Eltern-Kind Café for children ages 0-5. Their space is also available for birthdays, christenings, family parties, and more.

Where? Börchemstraße 35, 40597 Düsseldorf

Café Barnets

Café Barnets is the perfect paradise for your little ones (especially in the first 0-12 months). Here you’ll have an opportunity to get comfy amidst cushions and pillows while sitting at eye level with your little ones who can either enjoy some cozy tummy time or play in their kids’ room. While Café Barnets is very much a café open to everyone, it’s also very much inspired by a classic Kindercafé making it the best of both worlds. They offer amazing dishes, prenatal courses, catering, kids’ play, event hosting, and much more!

Bude Eins

Bude Eins is more than just a Kindercafé where you can sit down and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and some yummy snacks, it’s a kid’s play paradise for creativity and role-playing. Think of it as a mini-city for mini kids, a perfect little town where your kids will be able to put out burning buildings, mend broken teddy arms, grocery shop at the local market, and style each other’s hair. The space is divided into a play city, a small children’s play space, a baby play space, and a café so that regardless of your child’s age, they’ll always be busy.

Motte

Klein aber fein – this Kindercafé might be small but packs a punch. The space is primarily used for baby and kids courses including fitness classes, dancing classes, and language classes. However, the small front space is also the perfect haven to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee and a few snacks, while your little one can explore the toys and games around the room. You’ll always have them in sight! If you’re looking for a quiet spot to meet another parent friend and wind down, this is the place to be.

Kindercafé Wunderhaus

The Kindercafé Wunderhaus looks much like a classic café but is one of the best child-friendly cafés in Düsseldorf. Why? It has a huge indoor playground and playmat for the kids to enjoy while the parents catch up and drink their coffee in peace. They also host birthday parties of all sorts here!

WONDROMEDA

WONDROMEDA is a delicious Korean coffee house and extremely child-friendly. They have a small playroom for the youngsters as well as a separate movie theatre room for the kids. There are plenty of high chairs as well so that your little ones can enjoy some snacks with you at the table.

Café Dulce

Dulce is a dessert café that isn’t necessarily a Kindercafé, but they do have a ton of space in the back which is always filled with baby groups and parents with their little ones. They welcome young families and have a great selection of tasty desserts and delicious teas and coffees.

Kaffeepiraten

Kaffeepiraten is another popular café for families as they have a small play area in the back for the kiddies and a few comfortable sofas for the parents to sit and enjoy their beverage. They also have a back terrace to enjoy in the summer and a great selection of freshly prepared sandwiches and fruit bowls.

IKEA

Sometimes the best answers are the ones we’ve already thought of (and then oddly forgot about). I’ve been in search of great places to bring my baby and completely forgot that IKEA is one of the most family-friendly spots in any city. They have a huge restaurant with kids’ meals, changing tables, high chairs, and even an indoor play place where you can drop your kids off while you do your shopping.

Wilma Wunder

Wilma Wunder is a relatively new restaurant and café that serves up delicious food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While they may not have a play gym, the accessibility at Wilma Wunder is heavenly. There are 3 levels that are all accessible via elevator and the huge change table in the washroom makes diaper changes so much easier. Not to mention their cakes and coffee are scrumptious!

Im Nordpark – Café & Restaurant

Im Nordpark – Café & Restaurant is, as you may have guessed, in Düsseldorf’s Nordpark and surrounded by greenery. They have a beautiful outdoor terrace open in the summer and you can sit there in the shade while your kiddies run around in the grass.

Café Südpark

Similarly, Café Südpark (located in Düsseldorf’s Südpark) is located in the middle of the park and surrounded by nature so the kids can roam free while you sit out on the terrace and enjoy your coffee.

Florabar

Florabar actually runs 3 different locations which are all located in the city parks and all very pet and child-friendly. Florabar located in Florapark overlooks the dog park and a big open patch of grass for the kids to run around. They also have a few toys for the kids to play with at the café. Florabar Emmastrasse is located in the Volksgarten and Florabar Volmerswertherstrasse is located in the Alterbilker Friedhof. Note: All Florabars are completely outdoors.
