A lot of newcomers to Düsseldorf don’t join sports teams because they’re worried about the language barrier, but the Senators aren’t the only bilingual team in the city – you’ve also got the Dragons Rugby team, the Bulldozers American Football team, the Düsseldorf Curling Club, and many more! So, what are you waiting for?!

The Düsseldorf Senators Have Been Knockin’ It Out of the Park since ’85

Picture this: it’s 1985, and a group of baseball and softball enthusiasts decides to shake things up in Düsseldorf. Fast forward to today, and you’ve got the Düsseldorf Senators – a team that’s not just about scoring runs but also about scoring lifelong friendships. Affiliated with the TSG Benrath, this club is all about bringing people together through the love of the game.

The Senators are like the United Nations of baseball – players from the US, Japan, Indonesia, Pakistan, the UK, Sweden, Australia, Guatemala, and more have found their tribe here. It’s a cultural mashup where everyone speaks the language of home runs and fastballs.

More than Just a Game

Sure, they play softball and baseball, but for the Senators, it’s about way more than that. It’s about creating a slice of home in this bustling city. Imagine stepping onto that field, hearing the crack of the bat, and suddenly, you’re not a stranger in a strange land anymore. You’re part of a community that’s got your back.

Patrice Armitage, a softball player from Australia, sums it up best:

“Some of the closest friendships I’ve made throughout my life have been made while playing sports. I see joining the Senators as an opportunity to meet people in a foreign country and a new city, that have a passion for a sport that is close to my heart.”

Are you ready to join?

The Senators bring a fresh vibe to club sports. Frank Mohr, Head Coach of the Ladies’ Softball team, says it best:

“Our goal is not to see club sports as a burden or even an obligation, but rather as an opportunity to spend your free time with like-minded people and playing softball, one of the best sports in the world. We offer that sport in a way that’ll fit into your life.”
